Early Life & Education

Born on 20th April 1969, Suryakanth Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli hails from a family deeply rooted in public service. As the son of the late Dr. Gurupadappa Nagamarapalli—a transformative figure in Bidar’s cooperative and agricultural sectors—Suryakanth inherited a passion for community welfare from a young age.

Grassroots Connection

After contesting the 2009 Assembly elections, he dedicated himself to resolving local issues, working closely with party workers and the public to strengthen the party’s base in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region.

Continuing the Legacy

He is the torchbearer of the cooperative revolution started by his father, which includes:

  • Naranja Sugar Factory: Supporting over 200,000 sugarcane farmers and generating 8-14 MW of power.
  • DCC Bank Bidar: Empowering lakhs of shareholders and pioneering Self Help Group (SHG) schemes that have uplifted over 200,000 BPL families.

Social Contributions & GN Foundation

Beyond politics, Suryakanth is a dedicated social worker. Through the Nagamarapalli Foundation (GN Foundation), he has touched countless lives:

  • Water Security: Implemented bore-well schemes and supported the Jala Jeevan Mission to bring drinking water to doorsteps in villages like Kapalapur and Amadalapad.
  • COVID-19 Relief: Provided grocery kits and essential support to over 40,000 families during the pandemic.
  • Housing & Infrastructure: Secured government sanctions for 2,643 houses for the physically challenged and prevented the demolition of 300 homes of the poor by BUDA.
  • Healthcare: Played a key role in upgrading the old Bidar hospital into a modern 300-bed multi-specialty facility.
  • Education & Marriage: Personally supported the marriages of poor individuals and helped teachers secure their due grants.
  • Religious Harmony: Facilitated government funds for the renovation and development of 86 Temples, 18 Masjids, and 12 Churches across Bidar.

Personal Life

Suryakanth resides in Bidar and Bangalore with his wife, Smt. Renuka S. Nagamarapalli, and their two children. He remains easily accessible to the people of his constituency, embodying his belief that “The welfare of the people is the aim.”
